Description
Delightful cinnamon buns with a warm, gooey center, perfect for cozy mornings or dessert any time of day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
- 1/2 cup icing sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- Heat the milk and butter in a saucepan until warm (not hot), then pour this mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Add the eggs and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle on a floured surface, aiming for about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly on top. Optionally add raisins.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log from the long side, then slice it into even pieces, about 1 to 1.5 inches thick.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon buns for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- For the glaze, mix the icing sugar with 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth, then drizzle it over the warm buns.
