Description

A delightful dessert featuring fresh apples, warm cinnamon, and a flaky crust, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 45 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for apples)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter and mix until resembling coarse crumbs.
  3. Add ice water gradually until the dough forms a cohesive ball.
  4. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Toss the sliced apples with sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle.
  7. Place the apple mixture in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold the border over the apples.
  8. Beat the egg with milk and brush it over the crust.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes until tender and golden brown.
  10. Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
