- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup ice water
- 4–5 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup sugar (for apples)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter and mix until resembling coarse crumbs.
- Add ice water gradually until the dough forms a cohesive ball.
- Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Toss the sliced apples with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle.
- Place the apple mixture in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold the border over the apples.
- Beat the egg with milk and brush it over the crust.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until tender and golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
