Ingredients

  • 40 Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Arrange the Saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until boiling. Let it bubble without stirring for 3 minutes.
  4. Carefully pour the toffee mixture over the Saltine crackers, ensuring they are evenly covered.
  5. Bake for 5-7 minutes until bubbly and toffee starts to spread.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top, letting them sit to soften before spreading.
  7. Optional: Sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the melted chocolate.
  8. Allow to cool completely at room temperature before breaking into pieces.
