Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Dissolve the baking soda in hot water and add it to the mixture along with the salt.
  5. Gently stir in the flour until just combined and fold in the semisweet chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop heaping spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are nicely browned.

Notes

Serve warm for a gooey experience, or allow to cool for a traditional cookie texture. Pairs well with milk or coffee.
