Description

Chicken Fried Steak is the epitome of comfort food—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with creamy gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tenderized beefsteaks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Gravy (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until smooth.
  3. Dip each steak into the egg mixture, then into the flour mixture, pressing down to coat.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the coated steaks for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Remove from skillet and let drain on paper towels. Serve hot with gravy if desired.

Notes

For best results, ensure oil is hot enough before adding steaks. Serve with mashed potatoes or collard greens for a complete meal.
