A delightful dessert that blends the tartness of cherries with creamy sour cream in a flaky crust, perfect for sharing.


Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust
  • 2 pounds fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the pie crust to fit a rectangular baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries with sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt. Stir until well-coated.
  3. Spread the cherry mixture over the prepared crust, then mix the sour cream with a little extra sugar and spread it over the cherry layer. Brush the crust with the beaten egg.
  4. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
