Description

An innovative twist on a classic cheeseburger, featuring a gooey cheese center inside a savory beef cake.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • BBQ sauce or ketchup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, blend cheddar, mozzarella, and cream cheese until smooth. Shape into balls and freeze for 15-20 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Divide beef mixture into 6 portions, flatten into disks, place a cheese ball in the center of one, cover with another disk, and seal edges.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F. Melt butter in a skillet, sear beef cakes for 2-3 minutes per side, then bake for 10-12 minutes.
  5. Let cakes rest before slicing. Serve warm, optionally with BBQ sauce or ketchup.

Notes

Use higher fat ground beef for juiciness. Ensure cheese balls are adequately frozen for a melty center.
