Description

A delightful dessert that marries the sweetness of caramel with tangy apples under flaky puff pastry, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Peel, core, and cut the apples into quarters.
  2. In an oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the sugar and cook while stirring gently until it turns into a golden caramel, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the vanilla and a pinch of salt. Arrange the apple quarters in the skillet, cut side down. Cook for about 10 minutes until the apples start to soften and soak in the caramel.
  4. Cover the apples with the puff pastry, tucking in the edges. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and flaky. Allow the tart to cool slightly, then carefully invert it onto a plate.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
