Description
A delightful dessert that marries the sweetness of caramel with tangy apples under flaky puff pastry, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Peel, core, and cut the apples into quarters.
- In an oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the sugar and cook while stirring gently until it turns into a golden caramel, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the vanilla and a pinch of salt. Arrange the apple quarters in the skillet, cut side down. Cook for about 10 minutes until the apples start to soften and soak in the caramel.
- Cover the apples with the puff pastry, tucking in the edges. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the pastry is golden brown and flaky. Allow the tart to cool slightly, then carefully invert it onto a plate.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
