  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for frosting)
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a bowl. Mix in 2 cups of granulated sugar until well combined. Add 4 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  5. While the brownies are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating 8 ounces of softened cream cheese and 1/2 cup of unsalted butter until smooth. Gradually add 2 cups of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.
  6. Once the brownies have cooled, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly on top. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

For an ultra-fudgy texture, do not overbake the brownies. Consider adding nuts like walnuts or pecans for an added crunch.
