Description
A delightful dish combining fluffy French toast with sweet blueberries, perfect for brunch or cozy family breakfasts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of bread (such as brioche or challah)
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Cut the bread into cubes and place half of them in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the blueberries over the bread, then add the remaining bread cubes on top.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread and blueberries. Press down gently to ensure the bread soaks up the custard.
- Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results.
- Bake covered for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until golden and set.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use stale bread for better texture. Feel free to customize with other fruits or nuts.
