Description

A delightful dish combining fluffy French toast with sweet blueberries, perfect for brunch or cozy family breakfasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of bread (such as brioche or challah)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the bread into cubes and place half of them in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the blueberries over the bread, then add the remaining bread cubes on top.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread and blueberries. Press down gently to ensure the bread soaks up the custard.
  4. Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight for best results.
  5. Bake covered for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until golden and set.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use stale bread for better texture. Feel free to customize with other fruits or nuts.
