Description

A rich chocolate cake that delights the senses with its moist texture and deep cocoa flavor, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  3. Carefully stir in the boiling water. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick.
  4. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack. Frost with chocolate frosting if desired.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Don’t skip the boiling water for a moist cake. Experiment with variations like adding chocolate chips or coffee for different flavors.
