Description

A classic comfort food dish featuring tender beef and mushrooms in a rich and creamy sauce, served over egg noodles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, cut into thin strips
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Egg noodles, for serving

Instructions

  1. Begin by melting the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft and translucent.
  2. Add the beef strips to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides.
  3. Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook until tender and moisture is released.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and mix well. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Allow to simmer and thicken for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream until fully integrated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve the beef stroganoff hot over cooked egg noodles, coating the noodles with the creamy sauce.

Notes

For tender beef, slice against the grain. Add a splash of red wine for deeper flavor, and consider substituting Greek yogurt for sour cream for a lighter version.
