Description
Delicious soft pretzel nuggets coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for snacking any time of the day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups warm water
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is foamy, add it to the flour mixture and knead until smooth.
- Let the dough rise for about an hour until it doubles in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Roll the dough into ropes and cut into small nugget-sized pieces.
- Boil water with baking soda in a large pot. Drop pretzel nuggets into boiling water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on greased baking sheets.
- Brush the nuggets with the beaten egg to give them a shiny finish. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon together. Coat the warm pretzel nuggets in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
- Serve warm for the best flavor and texture!
