Description

Delicious soft pretzel nuggets coated in cinnamon sugar, perfect for snacking any time of the day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is foamy, add it to the flour mixture and knead until smooth.
  3. Let the dough rise for about an hour until it doubles in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C). Roll the dough into ropes and cut into small nugget-sized pieces.
  5. Boil water with baking soda in a large pot. Drop pretzel nuggets into boiling water for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on greased baking sheets.
  6. Brush the nuggets with the beaten egg to give them a shiny finish. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Mix granulated sugar and cinnamon together. Coat the warm pretzel nuggets in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  8. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture!

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
