Description

A delightful Austrian dessert featuring flaky pastry and sweet apple filling, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups thinly sliced apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather all your ingredients.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the thinly sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Mix gently and set aside.
  3. Melt the butter and brush a thin layer on a sheet of phyllo dough. Sprinkle breadcrumbs evenly over the buttered phyllo.
  4. Place a portion of the apple mixture at one end of the phyllo sheet and roll it up tightly. Place the rolled strudel seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with more melted butter.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Allow to cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a variety of apples and ensure phyllo dough sheets are fully thawed. Adjust sugar based on apple sweetness.
